The Enjorran Empire is a kingdom located in the southwest region of Onfractus. The Enjorra family has ruled this land since the Age of Expansion, dictating rule and law for all cities within their borders. Although no external census is permitted to be taken, there is an estimated population of around 450,000 citizens (as of 810 SR), primarily - if not entirely - comprised of humans. The capital city of Enjorra has stood as a walled bastion for centuries, and is widely considered the most secure city on Onfractus.
Among the many early human settlers located in the southwest region of Onfractus, Salus Enjorra ruled a large, protected settlement with abundant farmland. Looking to expand the safety and security of his people, Salus began locating nearby settlements and establishing agreements of mutual protection with their leaders. Over time, this agreement was formalized by a contract known as the Enjorran Oath; in exchange for trained security, other settlements would provide a portion of their crops as payment. The Enjorran settlement grew in size accordingly, and soon was the predominant center for trade and commerce in the region.
Over time, settlement growth expanded and many larger settlements merged. The city of Enjorra was the first to proclaim sovereignty and establish a king, claiming Salus as their leader. Many other cities and settlements folded to this new ruler, often those with previously established contracts for security and protection. However, as other kingdoms began to arise, small settlements on the fringes of Enjorran territory began to be overrun in nearby expansion efforts.
To maintain border security, and to honor the Enjorran Oath, Salus Enjorra organized an army and prepared for conflict. Some nearby kingdoms relinquished their conquests at this time for fear of being overrun, others surrendered completely, and yet others prepared for war. In this age of expansion, Salus Enjorra began gathering other kingdoms under his banner; those willing at first, and then those that were not.
As this era continued, Enjorran expansion dominated the southern region with its army and newly established navy. As the southwest peninsula was united under Enjorran rule, many colonies were established in the southern parts of the land across the mighty rivers. Growing old, Salus offered reign of his empire to his eldest, Renfred, the current leader of his armies. After Salus’s passing, disciplines of leadership began to change, and new taxes were levied against the people of Enjorra. While the armies of Enjorra enforced this on the homeland, many members of the Enjorran Marine Regiment rose in opposition to these changes. Although Emperor Renfred attempted to squelch this uprising, the navy took to their station and renounced the empire. Taking the entire fleet with them, this Marine Regiment relocated to the southern colonies.
Without a navy, the Enjorran Empire focused primarily on its armies and began strengthening borders. Cities previously with loose boundaries became walled off, and the entire capital was formed into a multi-layered defensive stronghold. Trade with early Orc’yaim was established, and growth and development began anew. Over the ages, however, Enjorra’s many leaders each enacted policies and procedures to their likings, and over time laws were instilled to preserve legacy. Around 580 SR, Emperor Tibald instituted a hunt against the Eaglefolk living in his kingdom, and set heavy bounties upon them. Along with the recent development of firearm technology, this decree initiated the exterminations of thousands of Eaglefolk.
In the modern age of Onfractus, Emperor Calbenj Enjorra currently sits atop the throne. Although many policies are more lax under his reign, the unrelenting taxes have caused a segment of the populous to rise in revolution
